Theatrical Makeup Workshop

Section 2: Six meetings, Monday, Wednesday & Friday for two weeks, July 21 - August 1; 10:00 AM - NOON at Portland State University

DATES: Five meetings, Monday - Friday, August 4 - 8

TIME: 9:30 AM - NOON

 

  There are many tools available to actors, but one not often mentioned is makeup. Properly and imaginatively applied, makeup can transform a male into a female, a young person into an elder, and a human into a monster.

Level I:
Class will include lectures and demonstrations, while most of our time will be spent practicing techniques. Each session will focus on specific effects and methods, including enhancement, old age, fantasy characters and animals. ENTERING GRADE LEVELS: 7 -12 TUITION:

Level II:
Explore additional character techniques. You'll add more characters to your repertoire, and learn special effects including the basics of using latex.

Students will practice applying makeup to a partner and themselves.


Pat Arnold has over 20 years of experience as a theatrical makeup artist. She has worked as a makeup artist for the Portland Opera, and for community theater and television productions.

ENTERING GRADE LEVELS: 7-12
PREREQUISITE FOR LEVEL II: Completion of Theatrical Makeup Workshop: Level I

TUITION: Level I: $125 (includes professional makeup kit)
Level II: $125 (includes additional supplies for your makeup kit)
