Computer Animation


Instructor: Marc Thomas

Location: The OGI School of Science & Engineering at OHSU (Beaverton/Hillsboro)

Dates: Seven Saturdays, April 5-May 17

Time: 9:00 a.m.-noon

 

  Master the principles of video-based animation using MetaCreations Painter 5.5® in a Windows environment.

You'll design and create increasingly complex short animation projects that can be adapted for websites. Explore animation and 2-D fundamentals such as story boarding, animation!paths and camera angles.

This class is an excellent preparation for learning 3-D animation.

Each student will complete an animated short.

Animator Sharon Niemczyk will be a guest instructor for one class.


Marc Thomas has a Masters degree from Reed College and has taught math, electronics, computers and animation for over fifteen years. His career has taken him to northern India where he taught Tibetan children math and computers for the Tibetan Homes Foundation.

Sharon Niemczyk has served as an Animator-in-Residence for the Portland Art Museum Northwest Film Center's Young Filmmakers Program for many years.

Grade Levels: 5-9
Recommended: Experience in animation or multimedia is recommended but not required.

Tuition: $225 (includes CD of your work)
